Join us July 29 - August 1 for BRIDGEFEST 2019, a celebration of music that “bridges” the days between the Newport Folk and Jazz Festivals. Featuring a variety of events across the city, BRIDGEFEST includes a free concert celebrating festival impresario George Wein’s life as a musician and his love of Newport on Thursday, August 1, at Fort Adams State Park.

There will be a limited number of $75.00 tickets (fully tax deductible) sold for a pre-concert reception at the Newport Festivals Museum at Fort Adams State Park where Jay Sweet, Newport Festivals Executive Producer, will give a brief talk on plans for the Museum. Reception Guests holding these tickets will: enjoy a glass of wine/beer/soft drink and tasty hors d’oeuvres; have a chance to say hello to George Wein and Christian McBride; have a seat in a Reserved section for the evening’s concert; and receive an advance copy of the Newport Jazz Festival program book.

George Wein is known the world over as producer and co-founder of the Newport Jazz and Folk Festivals, but it is playing the piano that first stole his heart nearly nine decades ago. Join Newport Festivals Foundation for One More Once, an evening with George Wein and special guests Christian McBride and the Newport Jazz Assembly Band. Now 93, George has decided to play his public swan song in Newport, the city that jump started his career as a producer and forever changed his life. Attendees were required to RSVP to hold a seat for the free concert. At this time, all seats have been reserved.
